LESSON OF THE DAY!

I got the most comments when I posted the wave equation, so I figured since I'm so intellectual, I'd share some of my knowledge. (I guess you can't hear my sarcasm when it's just words!) We will have a short lesson of the day. Today we are going to talk about different kinds of waves, mechanical ones. Transverse waves are like if you're holding a string and you shake one end of it. The individual particles move up and down, but the wave pattern moves down the string. Thus, the particles move perpendicular (up & down) to the wave pattern (moves from left to right). Longitudinal waves are sound waves. The particles are compressed (think of an ear canal) moving back and forth, just like the wave pattern is traveling that way!!! Now, go into the world and share this highly useful information. Go, run. Run as fast as you can!

Perfectly good explanation if you ask me. Luckily I was dating a physics PHD when I took physics in college. Thanks again Sam Jones!!! Loved the post on my Challenge! I will most definitely leave it up ;)

Wendy, I am so glad my physics tips have helped you in your class...it sounds like my work here is done...
